Navigation bar problem solved

Thursday, October 17th, 2002

Finally the problem with the navigation bar is fixed! It was quite a simple thing actually, but I was somewhat puzzled that everything worked fine on my private server. Probably something to do with the way server parses PHP code. In other news, my private server is currently offline. No word on when it will be back online, but I’m hoping to come up with a more permanent solution in the future.

Site problems and .Net framework

There’s still the problem with the navigation bar jumping around, finally working on it. 🙂

Lately, I received some questions pertaining the .Net Architecture (or .Net Framework) required by Ultimate Renamer. Unfortunately, the download instructions weren’t too clear about this, so it’s a time for some clarification.

In short, .Net Framework is a big part of the future the way Microsoft envisions it. All software created using Visual Studio .Net (be it VB .Net, C++ .Net, C# or any other future language MS adds to the .Net family) will require it, and it will be a crucial part of the next version of Windows OS. (aka Longhorn)

The .Net Framework is available both on Windows Update or Here. Since the entire .Net Framework takes over 20MB it isn’t practical to include it with Ultimate Renamer or any other small software distributed over Internet.

Considering a great number of modern software already ship with or require the .Net Framework, you are quite likely to already have the .Net Framework files installed, and you can simply download the package for Ultimate Renamer and install it.

If this is not the case however, download the .Net Framework files from Microsoft, install them, and then proceed with Ultimate Renamer installation. If problems arise, feel free to contact me or Microsoft support. (they are paid for that, I’m not 😉
