The original impulse to make a renamer program was given by a friend whose file system had been damaged by a hard disk failure and who wanted to get back the original long file names lost in the process. I quickly came up with a small program called ‘Nimeäjä’ (Renamer in Finnish) but it was way too buggy to be used in such a important task. However, after quite a long time, I decided to resume work on this projects, and Ultimate Renamer was born. Even though Ultimate Renamer can still handle similar tasks its predecessor was meant for, it also comes with much more wider capabilities.
Current State of the Project
There has been no development on the project for several years, and any potential new versions would involve a complete rewrite. For historical purposes, you can still download the latest public beta using the link below. However, for practical renaming tasks it is recommended to use another program such as Flash Renamer (Shareware).
